Canada Soccer Announces #CANWNT Preparation Camp Presented by CIBC

Canada to face Australia in an International Friendly Match on 13 July 2024 in Marbella, Spain.

Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team will centralize in Marbella, Spain, for a #CANWNT Preparation Camp presented by CIBC as the team enters its final preparation phase ahead of representing Canada on the world’s stage. Canada will face Australia on 13 July in a Tier 2 match, followed by a behind-closed-doors match on 17 July.

The camp will first see European-based players come together on 4 July, with the North American based players joining the team on 8 July. The camp will continue until the team heads to St-Étienne for Canada’s opening match of the Women’s Olympic Football Tournament Paris 2024 on 25 July. This period will provide Canada with an opportunity to acclimatize to the different time zones and weather conditions of Western Europe while also spending valuable time as a group before the start of the competition.

Canada is no stranger to Australia, having faced them five times since 2022. The most recent encounter between the two nations was in December 2023 in Vancouver, where Canada secured a 1-0 victory as the country bid farewell to Canadian legend Christine Sinclair.

“Australia has been a consistent podium threat across recent major tournaments, and we wanted to really test ourselves prior to going into France. It will be important to blend minutes, form partnerships, and continue to grow as a squad in order to be ready come 25 July.”

- Bev Priestman, Canada Soccer’s Women’s National Team Head Coach

The Saturday 13 July match will kick off at 21:00 local (15:00 ET / 12:00 PT). Fans will find extended coverage across Canada Soccer’s digital channels on Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube featuring the hashtag #CANWNT.

At the Olympics, Canada will face New Zealand on Thursday, 25 July, France on Sunday, 28 July, and Colombia on Wednesday, 31 July in the group phase of the competition. All three matches will be broadcast live on CBC.
